David Henry Sterry is an author, performer, book doctor,
activist, and a man who hasn’t worn matching socks in 20 years.
David is the author of 12 books, including the best-selling Chicken,
which is being made into a TV series by Showtime. He made a one- man show out of the book, and when it premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Independent named it the number one show in
the UK. His latest book, Hos, Hookers, Call Girls and Rent Boys,
was featured on the front page of the Sunday New York Times Book
Review. “Eye-opening, astonishing, brutally honest and frequently
funny… unpretentious and riveting — but also graphic, politically
incorrect and mostly unquotable in this newspaper.” Prior to
becoming an author, David was a professional actor, comic and

Phyllis Theroux is an essayist, columnist, teacher and author.
Born in San Francisco, California, she is the critically acclaimed
author of a memoir, California and Other States of Grace (William
Morrow & Co, 1980), two collections of essays, Peripheral Visions (William Morrow & Co , 1981) and Nightlights: Bedtime Stories for
Parents in the Dark (Viking Adult, 1987) and an anthology, The
Book of Eulogies (Scribner, 1987). Her first children's book, Serefina
Under the Circumstances, was recently published by Greenwillow
Press. She has also been a contributing essayist on The Newshour with Jim Lehrer, and her columns, op-ed pieces, reviews and feature
stories appear in various newspapers including The New York Times,
Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, and International

Candace Walsh has edited two anthologies, Ask Me About My
Divorce: Women Open Up About Moving On (Seal Press, June 2009)
and Dear John, I Love Jane: Women Write About Leaving Men for
Women (Seal Press, October 2010), and co-founded and edited
Mamalicious magazine. She is also the features and poetry editor at
Mothering magazine. Her articles have appeared in Travel + Leisure,
Sunset, Food + Wine, Natural Solutions, Newsday, New York,
Blender, and Details. She also wrote, with John Morris, the book
Stone Design for the Home (Gibbs Smith, 2008). Candace lives in
Santa Fe, NM with her two irrepressible young children.
